I enjoyed reading this given i was such a huge fan of the movie and it's certainly up there on my top five list of best movies of all time. This book was cool due to the detail it went into about what you didn't see what went on behind all the visuals. One thing is for certain it completely changes your view on the relationship between dianne freeling and "The Beast". While some things in the book are slightly different from the movie. It was nice seeing more of Dana and what went on with her while all this was going on.
While the author is certainly no Stephen King or Dean Koontz I did read this in one day so it certainly keeps you reading. There are som big elements in the book that the movie did not go into detail about like Why Marty left and was never coming back, how Dana really felt about her parents and her "missing" little sister and after watchin poltergeist 2 giving Robbie a lot more character. and throwing in a few little surprises.
what would Poltergeist been like if it had been R rated instead of PG and how much better this could have been if Sir Steven hadn't been so busy with E.T. I really enjoyed the read. Watch the movie first, then read this book and you'll be entertained. hearing the characters voices from the movie in your head as you read along :)

This is a chilling read!! James Khan has fashioned a tight frightening text based on this film's screenplay. I felt it was excellently well written and expanded upon. It can be very hard to find this book but if you can find it, read it!!! It's great!
I liked reading the book. Gave a different perspective to a movie I have watched a million times as a child.
I bought this book as a Christmas present for a buddy of mine. We both love the classic movie from our childhood and I thought she would be interested in reading the story from a different angle. I managed to read some of it before giving it to her, and liked what I saw. Very cool. I asked her if I can borrow it when she is done.
Since I am a HUGE fan of the Poltergeist movies, I really wanted to read this book. It came right on time, no damage, and since it's summer vacation, I'll be reading this over the summer.
So happy to finally get my hands on this!
I'm a big fan of the movie so I figured I'd buy this too.
Good conversations with the seller. The book was in almost PERFECT condition, was NOT late AT ALL. The item arrived just exactly on time as it was advertised. I would recommend this bookseller to ANY- and EVERY-one!
I first read this "novelization" of the film when I was about 7 years old, simply because the movie itself scared the living daylights out of me and prompted me to sleep with my parents the night we returned from the cinema.....Interesting enough, it was playing as a double feature with the original Superman (Christopher Reeves)......another strange movie for children.
Anyway, when I first read this book, I became bored with all of the "dream sequences" scenes involving "ghost/fanstasml" creatures who DO NOT appear AT ALL in the film.....I kind of thought the whole thing (we're talkin' PAGES and PAGES of scenarios with these dream creatures (named Sceanu and Fantabel in the novel) was a bit "hokey", you might say, and detracted from the plot that we see in the classic film. Anyway, enjoyed the book nonetheless, and would recommend it to anyone interested in the "P" series of movies...........p.s. "POLTERGEIST 3" was UNBELIEVABLY B A D!!!....DO NOT EVER RENT this movie.........just my 2 cents of advice there! )
Great novelization of a truly terrifying film...............(only if you are between the ages of 4 & 7 when you see it ON THE BIG SCREEN ONLY!.......in a VERY DARK theater.........all by yourself, ok? Trust me, I've done this, and it will frighten the be-jesis out of you!!!! YES! YES!! I'm NOT lying!
Sincerely,
Matt G.
